Skating Safety Rules

We're BIG on Safety
Please follow these safety rules:

  1. Wear your helmet, gloves, kneepads, and long sleeve shirt at all times when on the ice. Later you may decide to wear shin guards.

  2. Take your skate guards off before stepping onto the ice. Take off one guard. Step onto the ice with that blade, and then remove the other guard. You can fall easily if you try to walk on the ice with your skate guards on.

  3. Keep your skate guards on the edge of the boards or in the center of the ice so that no one will trip over them. Jackets, shirts, water bottles etc. should be kept at the center or off the ice.

  4. Water bottles should be made of plastic. No glass please.

  5. Always skate in a counter clockwise direction, unless directed to do otherwise by a coach.

  6. NO pushing, shoving, or rough play on the ice.

  7. If you fall and slide toward the boards, try to turn your body so that you do not hit the boards feet or head first.

  8. Take care when you skate onto or out off the "track". Always check for oncoming skaters. They may be going faster than you think.

  9. Use the doors to get on and off the ice. Do not climb over the boards. Be sure to close the door behind you.

  10. All skaters must be off the ice when the Zamboni is operating.

  11. If you have any questions or concerns, ask one of the coaches.
